"Not all who wander are lost." -Tolkien
It's one of those sayings you hear quite often these days, and we have been experiencing it to the fullest.
As we are just getting settled back into the hustle and bustle of Kampala, we are feeling pretty damn lucky as we reflect on our first two weeks on the ground. It was a serendipitous connection as we began talking with Carly of The Citizenry state side, and it grew even more as we sat on the side of the road talking and laughing over Nile Specials waiting for our flat tire to be fixed within our first day on the road.
When hazel & pine was born it wasn't just our love for producing meaningful content, it was more about partnering with like minded people who are on a conscious mission and The Citizenry is just that. Founders Carly and Rachel were inspired as they were decorating their own first homes and wanted to fill them up with designs with a soul, a story, and a purpose. It didn't take long until they packed their bags and have traveled to several destinations around the world where they partner with artisans using only local materials, design beautiful home goods, and establish relationships to encourage a sustainable life. Their new collection about to launch is a collaboration with another favorite of ours, Rose & Fitzgerald who are based in Uganda.
We all hopped in the adventure-mobile and had truly, an adventure of a lifetime and we are so grateful to have been a part of it.
Carly and Rachel, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for asking us to wander with you.
